    Midweek Wellness: Hydration and Electrolytes

You've probably heard this quite a lot- but hydration really is key. Key for clearer skin, better digestion, even for mood regulation and brain function!

Harvard Health notes that water also aids in cushioning joints, normalizing blood pressure, carrying nutrients and oxygen to your cells, and regulating body temperature.

While many of us are aware of the importance and benefits of staying hydrated, it's easy to get busy and let our water intake slip to the background of our lives.

A common rule of thumb is to drink half of your body weight in water. For example, a person weighing 140lbs could have a goal of drinking 70 ounces of water per day. However there is no across the board amount that will be right for everyone. The amount necessary will vary depending on lifestyle, activity level, climate, and other health issues. Check in with your doctor if you're unsure what your goal should be.

There are also many other ways to hydrate aside from water. Many fruits and veggies, milk, juices, some herbal teas, and electrolyte drinks can help you reach your daily hydration goal.

While proper hydration is essential, it doesn't have to be boring, or a task. Electrolyte powder packets added into sparkling water can be an easy way to have some fun while staying hydrated this summer. Coconut water is also a great option, or cut up a watermelon and enjoy!
