    Midweek Wellness: Mindfulness Breathwork Exercise

Breathing is a powerful tool when feeling stressed or overwhelmed. Ever need to take a minute from work or the kids? Try this exercise in the break when you've stepped away, or anytime you feel like you need to find your peace and cool down.

    _____

First, hold your hand out front of you, fingers showing five, and palm facing you.

Take a deep breath in through your mouth while counting to four. As you do this, trace the outside of your pinky finger from the bottom to the top. When you get to the top, hold and count to four. Then breath out through your nose for 6, while tracing down the inside of your pinky.

Following the outline of your hand, continue to your ring finger. Trace up your ring finger while inhaling and counting to 4. Hold at the top for 4 seconds. Then exhale through your nose and trace down your finger for 6.

Continue until you have traced all 5 of your fingers.

Tip: as you are inhaling, try visualizing breathing in whatever it is that you need. Peace, refreshing, etc. As you are breathing out, picture yourself breathing out any negativity, stress, or chaos that you are holding on to.

We hope this exercise is found useful to you and helps you throughout the day!
